101 Things List

Rappeling down into the Cenote, Mexico 2008

Rappeling down into the Cenote, Mexico 2008

In the summer of 2005, I found a book called “101 Things to Do Before You Die” by Richard Horne.  I had started a similar list when I was a senior in High School, but this was perfect!  A tidy little checklist that even has star stickers to put on the pages when you complete an item (I’ll always be the goody-two shoes!).

Some people may feel that this is morbid, but life is a journey, not the destination!  We are only here but for a short time and I want to live to the fullest.  Therefore, I am always looking for a new adventure or something new to try.

Many of the items on the list have sub-categories, so for instance, “#57 See the All-Time Greatest Films” is a list of over 200 films I had to watch before I could check off the ONE item.  As this list was created by someone else, I’ve changed some items that I didn’t care to ever complete, and I’ve added some of my own.  Feel free to let me know what you have on YOUR list, too!

  1. I have a list too :)

    http://hundredgoals.com/100-goals/

I like your list, though I think it would be *much* cooler if all the goals were your own, it would make it so much more meaningful to you since each item would actually be something you want to accomplish, not just something someone else thinks you should do.
    :)

    • Thanks for the comment Steven. If you read my blog, you’ll see that I make changes and tweak the list regularly, as I’m always finding out about things I want to do or accomplish. I’m VERY pleased with the list that I’m working on and if I accomplished even half of the items on this list, I can safely say that I’ve had a very interesting life!

  2. sorry that website is this moment in polish only but we working on english version :)

  7. What a fantastic list, made mine look tiny in comparison so I hope you don’t mind I have taken your lead and set higher goals for myself.
I look forward to reading all about your adventures.

    • If there is anything you see on my list that you think you’d also like to do, please take it as your own. What I have found is that, while we may accomplish the same goal, our stories and ways of setting about accomplishing them will always be different. I look forward to hearing all about yours!

  8. This is beyond awesome. I’m totally making one of these lists….or buying the book :)

  9. Hey Jessica,

I came to your page through your comment on mine. I have enjoyed reading through your list, I have a some what similar bucket list myself that I’m whittling down…and I might integrate into my blog. It’s always nice to run into like minded people :)

  10. Great list Jessica! I hope everybody can do just like us and realize how important it is to write down clear objectives in order to accomplish amazing things! For those of you who might be interested in reading my personal list, visit https://gdufour31.wordpress.com/

I have only 67 items written down so far, but other items will be coming soon. My project is to start accomplishing items on my list as of this summer and I will be making videos of myself crossing items off. Don’t hesitate to visit my blog and comment! Feel also free to share with me what is on your list.

  16. Hi! I had an idea like this a few years back, but I’m only putting it into action now. It’s amazing to see all of the things that you’ve already accomplished, and it’s interesting how many of the same goals we have on our lists. Some of them will be tough though, like a hole in one, but I’m sure you can do it!

My list (I’m adding a new item every day) is at http://www.leefollis.com if you want to take a look.

    Cheers :)

  17. Hey!

And I laughed once I saw the ‘Cayman Islands’ since I live there :)

    Thanks!

  21. I love checking out other’s lists! It’s interesting to see what others want to accomplish in their life, it shows that even though we are similar in many ways, we are still diverse and unique.

I’m a long – LONG – way off in comparison… What were some of your favourite Things To Do and what ones do you look forward to most in the future?

    • Thanks! I would say one of the most interesting things I’ve done was swimming with whale sharks and the thing I’m most proud of is finishing a marathon. In the future, I most look forward to travel related items, like seeing the Northern Lights or visiting Machu Picchu.

  25. What did you do to get into the Guiness World Book of Records?
