First off, you need to know that I’m not crazy. In fact, if you met me, you would think I was rather reserved and conservative. And for the most part, I probably am. I was born old and never went through the obligatory “wild and rebellious” phase (usually from ages 17-23). I’ve never smoked, I rarely drink, I seldom even leave the house on the weekends. I’m painfully responsible.
However, I know that there is a big, wide world out there and if I don’t push myself to experience it now, I’m going to be old and boring before I even know it. So I do the things on the 101 Things to Do Before You Die list to prove to myself that I’m not afraid to step outside of my daily routine.
I hope you enjoy reading about my journey and feel free to comment often!

Hey Jessica,
My name is Matthew Swarbrick. I’m the owner of a new website called Buckeroo.com. This website was made exactly for people like us who are interested in making a bucket list for themselves. It’s tailored to the user and is extremely addicting to use. This is not Spam or an attempt to send you the link to an illegitimate website. I was just hoping you’d use my site, the way you’ve so wonderfully used your blog to make your list.
Thanks for reading, and I hope to see you as a free member at Buckeroo.com! If you like the site, show your support as a fan on Facebook!
Cheers!
Matthew Swarbrick

All I can say is OMG! You stole my life! I am such a home body! I was beginning to think something was seriously wrong with me. All I can say is great minds think alike. I never thought a list of things to do before I’m forty would manifest via an Internet search. I was thinking I would have to create a list all my own! You have done most of the leg work for me and for that my friend….I thank you! Please don’t be offended when I tell you that I will attempt to do a great majority of the items on your list! Kristine
Hi Jessica!
I noticed your name on http://www.101thingstodo.co.uk since it’s the same as my own, and took a closer look on your blog. When I got to the part “about ME!” I started laughing out loud because it could have been me who wrote all that stuff about being “painfully responsible”.
I wish you the very best of luck on your way towards completing your list, and hope it is OK if I link your blog to mine for inspiration and motivation?
best regards,
Jessica Wiman,
Sweden.
Hi Jessica! Thanks for your kind words! Definitely link to me and I’ll link to you! Good luck in your quest to complete the list and I’ll check into your blog often!
Jessica
Jessica,
I just wanted to tell you how great I think your blog is. I look through many blogs on a daily basis, and your is one of the most insightful and fun!
Jessica – I saw your comment on Karen’s blog and clicked your link.
I also run Galloway (this is my first year) and I’m running the OBX half marathon in November! What a small world! I run in the 11 min mile pace group because I’m not very smart and the friend who got me started in this is the leader for that group. Hope you’re enjoying running and working on your list!
-m
Morgan-Yes, What a small world! Yes, I’m in the 13 minute group so I’m MUCH slower than you and even though I’ve never run a race in my life, I’m rather foolishly (or ambitiously) trying to run the full marathon at OBX. I’m enjoying running much more than I thought I would (I very much like the 6 pounds that I’ve lost!) and have even found a local group to run with during the week. I’ll see you Saturday!
I think it’s impressive that you signed up for the full – you’ll feel really proud of yourself when it’s all said and done. I know I’m proud after running 3-4 miles. This morning is the first time I’ve run with a group during the week and it was a great way to start the day. I’m actually headed to Try Sports after work today to get some body glide (best thing EVER) and maybe a water belt (I agree – super dorky but everyone else is doing it…which always seems like a good bet).
Enjoy the rest of the week – see ya Saturday!
Hello Jessica,
My name is Heather and I realized on your list you mentioned Redskins, UNC, and Hurricanes. It sounds to me that you’re from the Virginia-North Carolina area. I noticed in your about me that it didn’t mention where you’re from. Can you please clear that up for me because I would really like to know.
Please & Thank you,
Heather
Thanks Heather-Yep, I’m from the Triangle (Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill). Hope you visit again soon!
Hi Jessica,
I started my list in December ’09 when my girls bought me the book for Christmas. It’s been a slow start for me, but reading through your site has inspired me to be more proactive about getting things done. I’ve set up a blog to try and get #91 checked off of my list.
Would you mind if I added a link to your site from mine? Take a look at mine and if you like it maybe you could add me to your list, but only if you like it!
Keep up the good work
Definitely add my link to your blog and I’ll add yours to my blogroll! Thanks for the compliment and I wish you much successur – I look forward to hearing all about your adventures!
Hi, nice to meet you !
Love your blog, Jessica, but where’s the subscribe button?
You probably already saw it, but when you comment, you can “check” the box to subscribe to the blog.
Hey there!
I love your blog! I recently started my own Life List and am blogging about it as well.
Great minds and all that!
Will definitely be following your adventures…and probably stealing some ideas as well *wink*
Cheers!
Amanda
I hope you DO steal some ideas and, more importantly, actually accomplish them as goals! I look forward to hearing all about your adventures!
Jessica
you just got me even more inspired!
i can’t believe you swam with Whale Sharks , i wanna do that too
tons of love
Definitely the most exciting thing I’ve done, but the thing I’m most proud of is finishing the marathon. Good luck on your list!
I love love love love love your mentality! You are officially one of the raddest chicks I know!
Hey are you on Twitter? I’d love to follow you if you are?
I also really love that you broke it up to do 40 before your 40. It sort of lets you do it in 2 phases and breaks it up nicely. Good idea!
I love the Leave yoru mark in Graffiti one! You are creative haha.
You rock Jessica!
LAUR
Wow, thanks for the compliment! I’ll track you down on Twitter too!
Nice blog! I particularly love the entry about the roller-skating party. I’m definitely an 80s girl myself. Totally!

Hi Jessica! I too can just simply copy your “about me” and paste it on mine! Lol. Have fun completing your list!!! I’ll be watching and cheering for you on the sideline.
Thanks Quely! Funny story, another blogger actually DID copy and paste my “about me” into her blog. It’s the only time I’ve been copied (that I know of); I asked her to take it down and she did, so no worries.
Hey Jess,
It’s nice to see other people giving themselves goals and challenges throughout their life. Makes things so much more exciting! I started my bucket list about 2 years ago, and tend to add more things then I complete. The list is so long now, with several challenges being so impractical that the book will have to be passed down the generations to help complete it!
Good luck in your journey, and i’ll be sure to keep an eye on your achievements throughout!
Jez
Hey! I want to get in your “Other Life Sisters” too
! Great blog! Thanks for supporting me gdufour31.wordpress.com
Jessica…thanks for the words of encouragement. When I made the bucket list, I knew that #16 and #1 were only a matter of time. Now that those are out of the way, I’m looking at the list and am wondering what is next. lol.
Cheers,
red
(-_-)
That’s whats exciting to me though…looking forward to that next big thing!
Hi Jessica!
Thanks for subscribing. I’ve only had my list going for a few months now… but I can see that you’re well on your way! Good luck!
I’ve been sitting around for too long and then it hit me one day that there were so many other amazing things that I’d never given my chance to do! You only live once, right!
Ryan
Hey Jessica,
nice blog, keep up the great work. Now I best stop procrastinating as I have spent the last 20 mins trawling through your adventure.
Good luck with the rest of the bucket.
Hap
I dunno, I think you’ve earned a 20 minute break between working in Antarctica and traveling to Africa!
I love your description of yourself. I just started blogging about my bucket list, and pretty much I am, just like you, a home body. I want to push myself to do the things I have always wanted to do. Things which I keep postponing for lack of courage, or just because I keep finding excuses not to do them (time and money are my favorites). Blessings on your journey.
I totally love your blog!!
I’m impressed with how you’re going after what you want. You’re a very interesting woman from what little I’ve read of your blog. I’ll be coming back for more, at the moment my time is limited. I so happy you found me so I could, in turn, “find” you. Good luck….with everything.
Hello, Jessica. I started writing my own blog (AdamJWilliams.blogspot.com) a few months ago, not realizing that there were a ton of bucket listers out there already. I have enjoyed reading your blog and have gotten quite a few ideas about new things to add to my list from you. I would love to take my wife to the Rocky Horror Picture Show to see the spectical. I would also like to add you to my blog roll, if that is okay with you.
Thank you for the inspiration Jessica, I have just put together my list at http://www.101before30.com – if there are any you fancy doing together, let me know!
Hi,
I came across your page recently and I’m trying to find an email address to contact you on to ask if you would please consider adding a link to my website. I’d really appreciate if you could email me back.
Thanks and have a great day!

I can’t remember if it was my bucket list, or yours that started it all, but I found your blog and I enjoy seeing you doing things most people only dream about. You have helped to inspire me to reach my goals, however humble I tend to make them and for that I would like to present to you an inspiring blogger award! To accept, just follow the link, but understand that you are in no way obligated to follow it all
I just wanted you to know that you have an effect even on little ol’ me! http://ciciladybug3.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=977&action=edit&message=6&postpost=v2
