When you have a blog about doing crazy things before you die, people tend to tell you about all the events and adventurous opportunities they hear about. It’s been great because that’s how I found out about the Color Run (that I’m doing in November) and Over the Edge (that I’m doing in October). But sometimes its just funny because everyone assumes I want to do every insane activity and the Raleigh Water Wars is one of these that, every year, people try to convince me to join, and every year, I say no.

You see, the Raleigh Water Wars is an epic water gun fight. For 3 weeks you have to survive by not being “killed.” You have your target and, once you “kill” them, you will move on to their target. All of the detailed rules can be found here. This year the tournament begins July 27th and ends August 17th at the Assassin’s Ball, where players and guests will enjoy drinks, entertainment and the thrill of the final kills.

I’ve had numerous people suggest that I participate. In previous years I couldn’t simply because I lived outside of the game area. Although I’m now living AND working within the game location, it just doesn’t appeal to me. I would have an anxiety attack! I may be able to do it for a day, but 3 weeks? And they can get you while you do your grocery shopping, as you leave work, or while you get your hair done? That’s too much.

So what do you think? Would you participate in something like this in your town? Does your city HAVE something similar to this?

About Jessica

Mild mannered marketing drone by day. Bucket list adventurer by late afternoon. Having first drafted a list in high school, Jessica's list of things to do before she dies has slowly taken over her life and consumes her thoughts. Because of the list, she has traveled to Mordor, plummeted towards the Earth's surface from 13,000 feet up, cavorted with whale sharks in open water, skinny dipped herself into the Guinness World Book, and cursed the day she was born during the last miles of a Marathon. It's safe to say that if Jessica is doing it, it's on the list.
