COMPLETED!
Yesterday I finally completed something I’ve been working on pretty regularly for almost 3 years: I drank my 200th different beer. I started this thing to do in March 2009 and drank a LOT of beers I’ll never drink again. As someone who doesn’t even like beer, this was all the more the challenge. However, I do have to say, I have found a few I’ll gladly drink again. And the best part? I can finally be the type of girl to grab a Solo cup of beer with everyone else, rather than be that high maintenance girl who is swilling hard liquor…or just settle for water.
Now technically we don’t have our name in the Ring of Honor…yet. Our “Plate Party” will be Sunday, November 6th at which time we’ll have $200 to use for our bar tab and our plates will be “unveiled.” We’ve chosen Sunday because North Carolina drafts are $3 and $200 will go far at that price! If you happen to find yourself in the Raleigh area that day, feel free to stop by!
My 200 beers are below, in reverse order (my latest beers are at the top of the list and the earliest beers are at the bottom). I foolishly didn’t keep a diary or some record of which beers I liked and which I didn’t, but by and large I enjoyed most stouts and porters, as well as many fruit beers, lambics, ciders, and wheat beers. I found I didn’t like IPAs, barleywines, or kolsch.

Wow! That’s a long list!

August 29, 2011

That’s a lot of darn beer!! Not sure I could complete that one. But, if it was drink 200 different kinds of red wine it would be easy. As a matter of fact, I would have check it off already
Hey, drinking 200 different red wines should warrant some kind of party!
Look at you! You drank all that beer and managed to lose weight and not get a beer belly as a souvenir!
I know! Believe me, I’m sure it slowed me down and now that I’m done with it, I’m looking to really get serious about these last 5 pounds or so.
Wow, check out all the different beers! I don’t think I’ve tried half of those on the list. That’s what I get for being more of a wine drinker. You should definitely feel proud of yourself though. Three years and all those beers drank. That’s really cool.
Thanks! To look at the list now…geez, it IS a lot of beer!
I approve of your list of beers, especially the New Belgium and Avery varieties! If you want darn good beer, Colorado is the place to be.
On a side note though, do those parentheses “(CAN)” mean you drank it from a can? Because I a bit appalled that you would drink White Rascal, the best Avery beer, from a can. Seriously. Come to the CO and get that on tap!
Hells yeah! At the end I started making a point to try to drink all the beers that came in cans but I’m still missing a few.
Now this is one I think I want to try.
Yes! This is the best! I’m a beer loving lush, and very jealous of this accomplishment!!! You’re awesome.
That’s quite an accomplishment! I don’t like beer either, but I don’t think I can pull this off. Have fun at the plate party!
Oh don’t worry! There will definitely be a post after the plate party!
Congrats! This puts my little ol’ 55 beer Pub Passport to shame!
Jessica = 200+. Phil = 3 and counting. LOL. You’re an inspiration.
Slow and steady wins the race. My plate party is November 6th so feel free to come and get 3 more beers towards your plate on me!
Jessica,
Thats a great accomplisment for anyone. I have had most of the beers on your list. I like trying different beers both domestic and foriegn. In the last 26 months i have tried 403. Keep up the good work.
