Let’s be realistic. I’m probably not going to visit every country. I don’t even WANT to visit EVERY country (I mean, I’m cool if I never visit Chad or Uzbekistan). BUT there are certainly ones that I’d really like to visit and if I ended up just making it to every continent, I’m doing pretty well! So here are the countries I want to visit for my 101 Things to Do Before You Die, listed in priority:
- New Zealand (obviously that’s getting ready to be checked off)
- Sweden/Norway (I desperately want to stay in a Ice Hotel and maybe check off #32 See the Northern Lights)
- Antartica (they offer cruises there and you can get off the boat and see penguins!)
- Kenya (I want to do a safari and climb Mt. Kilimanjaro)
- Greece (I was this close to going my Senior year of college. I paid my deposit on September 7, 2001. The next week changed international travel for awhile. BUT a group still goes every other January and they are always looking for chaperones…)
- Japan (My friend Heather lived there and taught English as a Second Language for 2 years and I never took advantage of having a place to crash and a person that could give me all the “must-see” places to visit)
- Peru (Machu Picchu)
- Brazil (Maybe during Carnivale? and to see Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janiero)
- United Kingdom (Deep down, I’ve always been terribly fascinated with all things British/Irish/Scottish-sorry Wales-and I think I could easily spend a month here)
- Germany (Ditto about all things German. AND I’ll get to brush off my incredibly rusty German. At least I already know how to swear-Scheisse!)
- Russia (Kremlin)
- Australia (Ayer’s Rock, Sydney Opera House, Great Barrier Reef)
- Spain (Running of the Bulls in Pamplona!)
- China (Great Wall)
- India (Taj Majal)
- Egypt (Pyramids)
- Cambodia (Angkor Wat)
- Turkey (Hagia Sophia)
I can hear it now: you mean, no France? Yeah, never really felt the need to visit France. And Canadia isn’t on the list either, but I figure I’ll visit “North Montana” eventually. And if I don’t, am I really missing anything?
So what other countries should I put on my list? These are definitely my top 18 but I’m open to adding others.

10.My favorites cities or places to be in Germany are Berlin (nightclubs, art, history), Frankurt-am-main (mainhattan, ECB, mordern art), Bodensee = Lake Constance, Saarbrücken (nighclubs), Munchen (Octoberfest), Rust (Europapark), Stuttgart(shopping) and .. Neuschwanstein Castle ! Beautiful country ..and I m french.
Oooh, I have some news on this front that I’ll be posting soon. It involves two of your destinations! I agree with you on most of yours, except I totally want to go to france. I’d add UAE for Dubai, Fiji, Italy, and South Africa.
I’m sorry about France Chris! I didn’t even think that you may see this post and admonish me. So many others love France-Tell me about places/things to see in France and I may change my mind.
yeah, definitely have to plan to go to Germany during Oktoberfest!
I almost added Fiji to my original post, and I forgot about Dubai! I’ve been to Italy, although I wouldn’t mind going back b/c I didn’t make it to Naples or Venice. Very excited about your upcoming news, though! I eagerly await!
I read you but I need to improve my english that’s why I try to post and post and post more and more and speak more since my car accident. That’s my goal.
France ? ..I will be your personal guide but not in Paris…Paris is a classical place and there are too japanese.
Some regions in France are so beautiful and so differents. I begin with 2 day in Normandy to visit all historic and american beaches, we ll drink cider glasses and the day finished at Mont-Saint-Michel http://url.exen.fr/45505/. We will go in Brittany, to eat some crêpes, visit celtic forest, “stonehedge” and listen to celtic music http://url.exen.fr/45506/. We ll go down near Bordeaux, drink some wines and to picnic at Saint-Emilion http://url.exen.fr/45507/. We ll go near the French Riviera, Cannes, Saint-Tropez and we ll take a ferry for Corsica http://url.exen.fr/45510/. After that, Alsace, with their beer, Sauerkraut and Ciconia. We ll finish in Reims and drinking Champagne.

Wow, those are really good photos-my photos never turn out that way. When I first posted, I did consider adding Belgium because I’ve heard a lot of good things. I’m jealous of how much you’ve traveled! But I’ve always thought that being in Europe would be great for travel, considering you can go through several countries in the matter of a day’s drive. I can drive all day and pretty much make it to Miami.
